| The British are coming, the British are coming. I invited a couple of chaps I met when I was studding abroad this summer. I promised these guys that if they came over here they would see the best football game of their lives. Well the Panthers and the Falcons might not live up to that billing. But I know the tailgating will be better than anything they have. I went to one of their football tailgates. It was out the back of a sports bar in a beer garden. Unfortunately we were stuck between the dumpster and the johnnie blue. Or the Loo Blue as they would call it. It there were some smelly Russian women there...kinda like when we have a Philly fan show up at one of our tailgates. Anyway Simon and Terry arrive on Friday. These guys are a lot of fun and will fit in well with the tailgating crew. They are focused on the Fried Turkey and the Panther Juice. So we know we have that covered. So where do you take guys who Live and work in London? We dont have a Big Ben or a Buckingham Palace. But we do have Bass Pro Shops and a Checkers game on Sat. night. I mean London is the big time. Someone suggested I take them to the museum. Maybe the NASCAR museum site. Let them look at the big hole in the ground. That might work, these two are not refined English gentlemen. At least not after 7 or 8 pints of beer. Thats the only way I have seen them. But when you meet them at the tailgate. Dont let on that they are not going to see David Becham and the LA galaxy at the game. Boy what a surprise we have for the British. |
Being able to go to Casey's District
Tournement games sure has been
the benifit of being out of work. I know
my daughter is really talented on the
softball field. Its gotten to the point
that she never surprises me on the
Softball Field. But volleyball is
different. I did not get to see her play
last year. So it was an eveing full of
surprises when I got to see her play
in the finals last week. Casey is 5'4"
and volleyball is a tall person sport.
Except if you play the defensive
specialist position, like Casey. She
makes most of her contact with the
ball only about 6 inchs above the
floor. And she was everywhere.
Diving and digging the ball up for her
teammates. Bouncing off the floor...
her not the ball. There were bruses
as bad as I got playing football. The
floor doesnt move when you hit it. It
seemed like she ran into the second
row of the stands to get an erantly
played ball. They won in a thriller.
Apparently someone else though se
played pretty well as she was named
to the All District First Team
Even better she got accepted into
Shepherd University . The BigCats
alma mater. They want her to play
softball... If I were them Id take a look
at that volleyball too.
